Quadrant Drive System Quick Startup

 with GoTo

 

1.      Uncover and setup the scope and dome as usual.

2.      Plug in the AC cord to the gray Quadrant drive box.

3.      Turn power on to the Quadrant drive with the small AC switch on the back of the Quadrant box.

4.  Use the Quadrant hand paddle for the next steps

After it is dark enough to locate a reference star, proceed with the initial hand paddle display:

  1. Do you wish to alter the config settings?

>No<               Yes                              (>< show which is selected)

Answer NO by pressing “Enter”

 

  1. Initialize on:

Catalog object or Coordinate?:

>Cat.<      Coord.

Press “Enter” to select Catalog

 

  1. Object Catalogs

           0=NGC            2=Messier

           1=IC                 3=Star List

           Press Desired #:

           Press “3”

 

  1. Select star by:

Num. (Full List)

Or Name (Partial)

           >Number<            Name

           Press # to switch to “name” and press “Enter”

 

e.      Use the * and # keys to scroll up/down the list of star names until the

      desired star is highlighted.

      Up/Down      Enter=OK

        Albireo

     

      >Vega            <

           Press “Enter”

 

f.        Display should show star and it’s coords that you selected.

Alpha Lyr

   RA:  18:36:36

DEC: +38:45:59

Enter=Yes            1=No

     If ok press “Enter”

           Pressing “1” will abort and let you start over.


 

g.      Manually move the telescope to accurately center the star or other

     selected object in the main telescope eyepiece. This may be done by

     grabbing and physically moving the telescope or by using the 4 red

     keypad buttons to slew the telescope with the motors.

      LMT      22:03:06

      Slew to initial

      Ref. Coordinates

      [Track] ŕ Done

 

h.      When the object is accurately centered in the eyepiece press “Track” and

      the scope should begin tracking the object.

5.      Additional objects or coordinates may be slewed to from here using the

      keypad.

6.      To shut down:

      Turn power off to the Quadrant box

      Unplug the AC power cord.

 with Simple Tracking

 

1.      Uncover and setup the scope and dome as usual.

2.      Plug in the AC cord to the gray Quadrant drive box.

3.      Turn power on to the Quadrant drive with the small AC switch on the back of the Quadrant box.

4.  Use the Quadrant hand paddle for the next steps

After it is dark enough to locate a reference star, proceed with the initial hand paddle display:

  1. Do you wish to alter the config settings?

>No<               Yes                              (>< show which is selected)

Answer NO by pressing “Enter”

 

  1. Initialize on:

Catalog object or Coordinate?:

>Cat.<      Coord.

h. The scope will now track and you may use it manually by simply

     grabbing the scope and moving it to any location you wish to observe.

 

5. To shut down:

      Turn power off to the Quadrant box

      Unplug the AC power cord.
