Corporate and Private Donations To FBAC

The Fort Bend Astronomy Club (FBAC) is a long-standing 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a 509(a)(2) public charity with a long history of donations from outside groups to help the club fulfill it's motto of "Observing, Sharing, Teaching & Promoting Astronomy". FBAC is dedicated to not only serving its members, but the general public as well.

FBAC is grateful to accept donations from corporate entities, local businesses and the private sector. In order to continue serving the public through our education, outreach and volunteer efforts, the Fort Bend Astronomy Club is in constant need of replacement equipment, along with the acquisition of improved technology.

Since 2008 Tony Wiese has been the Donations and Grant Coordinator for the club, he can be reached at anchor@blkbox.com Please include "FBAC Donations" in the subject line of any correspondence. Thank you.

Also, please see the FBAC "Wish List" page for items that are currently needed by FBAC.
Two of the ways FBAC uses donations, as well as how the club teaches and gives back to the community are:

1.  Through FBAC members donating their time in public outreach and teaching astronomy at the George Observatory. As well as helping run, maintain, upgrade, and improve all three of the observatory domes at the George Observatory.

For over 21 years (since the observatory opened), FBAC has provided the majority of the volunteers at the George Observatory. In the club's calendar year 9/1/10 to 8/31/11 there were 62 FBAC club members who donated a total of 3177 hours at the George Observatory.

2.  Thorough its Astronomy on Wheels program (AOW). AOW is a club sponsored education program where club members bring their own, or club loaner telescopes to area schools to teach students about astronomy and show them firsthand the wonders of the night sky. In the club's calendar year from 9/1/10 to 8/31/11 FBAC held 18 different AOW events which had over 3900 students, faculty and parents in attendance.
